Our #1 concern at ISR is ALWAYS safety, which is why we keep lessons to 10 minutes! We know that lessons are mentally and physically demanding for little ...ones and we never want to fatigue or exhaust them. For their little bodies, lessons can be quite the workout, so we make sure to limit the time they’re in the water because we want to be sure to see them the next day, ready for another lesson! Another reason is that a short amount of time for consecutive days helps with the retention of skills. It’s proven that children in this age range attain skills best within the first 10 minutes, so allowing them to go hard for 10 minutes, 5 days a week means they acquire and retain these life-saving skills more quickly! You wouldn't put you baby in the car without a car seat....so don't own a pool without a pool fence!

Why does ISR focus on teaching babies and children a proper back float? Because doggy paddling, or when kids pull their heads up while trying to swim, is t...oo unproductive and fatiguing for small children. And an overly fatigued child who is struggling to keep their head up will have trouble rescuing themselves or getting to the edge of the pool. But learning to float on their backs means that all ISR swimmers have a restful position they can ALWAYS rely on if they fall in the water and need to breathe! It's a simple life-saving skill that we believe every child should have!
