Pattern Technicians are responsible for analyzing a design in order to break it down into various parts that can be laid flat and drawn onto fabric.

Origin of the Balconette-Style Bra The balconette-style bra was first seen in mainstream fashion in the United States during the 1950s. Several similar bras were worn by women in other parts of the world prior to this time. These bras were often more revealing and either left part of the areola exposed or left the entire front of the breast exposed, and only provided support on the underside of the breasts. As the balconette-style evolved, the design became a bit more conserv...ative and covered about 1/2 to 3/4 of the breasts. The first balconette bra was designed in 1938 in the US. In 1949, the bra was modeled by Marilyn Monroe, which may have been part of the reason it became so popular. There are two different theories behind the naming of the bra. The first is that the way the bra supports the breast is like a balcony. The second theory behind the name refers to the appearance of the bra and how it is cut. Since the coverage of the balconette bra is only on the lower half of the bra, people sitting in a balcony overhead would not be able to see the bra when looking down at a woman wearing this type of bra.
