I wonder if they built the pool around the boulders or built the boulders around the pool Either way when caring for a pool with natural rock, it's important to keep in mind that the stones contain natural minerals and metals and some rocks depending on their type can lower the ph of the water significantly. Metals released from the rocks and then mixed with the chlorine of the water causes increased oxidization, metal stains and water discoloration. - Need help caring f...or your backyard investment or want to leave it in the hands of certified professionals? www.desertpools.com #pinnaclepeak #bigpool #thepoolwhisperer

Phosphate elimination in effect With the temperatures warming up, now is the time to have your pool checked for high phosphates. 9 out of 10 pools will need a phosphate treatment during the spring (unless they were recently drained) before we reach triple digits to eliminate high phosphate levels in the water. Phosphates will inhibit chlorine disinfectant ability and cause unexplained cloudy water and algae blooms even with a perfect chemical balance DESERTPOOLS.COM... #thebouldersresort #thepoolwhisperer

Anybody else love the cool weather this morning!? Fall is right around the corner and pool temperatures are cooling off and chances are most pools are not getting used as frequently BUT don't let up on your normal weekly maintenance whether you are a 'do it yourselfer' or have a weekly service TIP OF THE DAY Historically October is the month we see the most algae blooms and the month we get the most calls to come out and troubleshot algae related issues... the reas...on being is most pool owners let up on their service once the pool is not in use. Even during the cold months (November-March) your pool needs weekly attention. The kind of summer your pool has depends on the care given during winter as a pool that has not been brushed or chemically balanced is going to have a longer and more expensive summer than a pool that's been kept balanced and clean #thepointe #dontskipthebrushing #thepoolwhisperer

Happy New Year! Don't forget the care you give your pool during the winter months dictates how well it performs in the summer heat Bacteria (algae) is dormant in cold water but can still survive and grow in the right conditions. If left to thrive it can turn into an algae bloom once the water warms up in the spring Winter Pool Care Tips... 1The entire pool should pass through the filter during each run cycle. This is about 6-8hrs of runtime for the average pool. The pool might look 'ok' running 3-4 hrs a day but there will be bacteria and contaminate left that aren't getting filtered 2Brush the pool. Just because the water is cold doesn't mean there isn't dirt and other micro organisms clinging to the pool surface 3Don't over chlorinate the pool in winter. Many pool owners will 'put a few tabs in the float' every few weeks and while this may work in the summer due to how quick chlorine can burn off in the heat, in winter, 2 tabs in the float is enough to send some pools into chlorine overload which can spell disaster for the chemical balance come summer and will require some pools to be drained to correct the problem #mirabel #itscoldoutside #thepoolwhisperer
