Don't forget the care you give your pool during the winter months dictates how well it performs in the summer heat Bacteria (algae) is dormant in cold water but can still survive and grow in the right conditions. If left to thrive it can turn into an algae bloom once the water warms up in the spring Winter Pool Care Tips... 1The entire pool should pass through the filter during each run cycle. This is about 6-8hrs of runtime for the average pool. The pool might look 'ok' running 3-4 hrs a day but there will be bacteria and contaminate left that aren't getting filtered 2Brush the pool. Just because the water is cold doesn't mean there isn't dirt and other micro organisms clinging to the pool surface 3Don't over chlorinate the pool in winter.
